Aside from the acoustic qualities of flat panel speakers, the NlightN offers a lightweight and compact design. Because of its construction, a panel is easy to transport or hang on a wall (so as not to occupy any floor space). An NlightN panel only weighs 17 pounds (8 kilograms).

The design of a flat panel speaker is much less complex than a conventional speaker, and there are fewer parts.

• Flat panel speakers don't need heavy magnets like a conventional speaker.

• Since the panel is flat, it can be supported by a frame; a bulky enclosure (cabinet) is not needed.

• The NlightN does not employ any baffles or insulation to control unwanted radiation.

This sleek, high tech design can be credited to the operational characteristics of a Distributed Mode Loudspeaker. The movement of a flat panel speaker is more complex than the simple in and out "piston" motion of the cone on a conventional speaker. The surface of a flat moves in a series of ripples, and sound emitted from the rear does not cancel out or interfere with the sound coming from the front.

A conventional speaker, by contrast, needs a cabinet to control the sound coming from behind the driver. The cone moves in a backward direction as much as it moves forward, and this produces a great deal of unwanted sound. Most traditional speakers are designed with a thick enclosure to control radiation from the rear.

The NlightN Flat Panel Speaker is ideal for mobile use. An optional carrying case with handles and shoulder strap is available. Two panels will easily fit into the back seat of nearly any automobile. So you can "can the van!" The savings that you will realize in transportation expenses will pay for the speakers over time.

Rane MP 2 Mixer Preamplifier (single space)

The MP 2 is packed with all the necessary features for a great performance and perfect mix. Each Program bus selects any of the four stereo Inputs. Any Input can appear on either side of the Crossfader! You have two selectable phono/line Inputs and two stereo line Inputs for each of the two Program buses. Each Program bus has its own Bass and Treble EQ.

The MP 2 includes many additional important features. Cue Engage on each bus, Headphone slide fader that pans Cue to Master and a powerful low-noise Headphone Amp with Level control, of course. You also get a balanced Main Mic input with full-range fader control. The Rane MLM 82a features four balanced, studio grade, Mono Mic/Line Inputs with XLR jacks and 15 VDC phantom power. The MLM 82a also features four stereo line level inputs with 12 dB of line gain. A and B Output Level controls set the master mix level independently for A and B outputs. The mix amplifiers feature independent overload indicators.

The RM75 Party Mix (single space)

The new ROLLS RM75 is an ideal single rack space DJ/Karaoke mixer. The unit combines two microphones with four source inputs. Mic One has input jacks available on both the front and rear panel. +12 volts of phantom power is supplied for your favorite condenser microphones. A 1/4" TRS Mic Insert jack has been provided on the rear panel to add effects and processing to the mic signal. Denon DNC 550R Dual CD Player Recorder (2 spaces)

The DN-C550R is packed with features allowing its interface with many of the compact disc formats available today. Drive 1 can be used as a dedicated Playback deck, accepting both pro and consumer CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs, as well as supporting playback of HDCD encoded discs via the built-in HDCD decoder. Drive 2 can function as either a CD-R/CD-RW recorder, or as a second playback drive with the same playback functions as Drive 1. Both drives of the DN-C550R are also PC/data disc compatible, while both analog and digital inputs of Drive 2 are SCMS defeatable.
