Wall Mount Panels

NlightN Flat Panel Speakers have mounting holes on the rear side so that they can be hung on the wall like a picture frame. They are only 17 pounds (8 kg)!

The panels are the ideal speakers for a plasma display monitor or high definition television. They may be hung on the wall next to the flat panel TV. The perception of the audio and video coming from the same source will enhance the viewing experience.

Of course, each panel also has a mounting sleeve for use with tripod stands.

Available Finishes

NlightN Flat Panel Speakers are available in two finishes:

Black with protective metal grille

White without a grille.

Raw panels without any finish are a special order item.

Finally, the protective metal grille is available as an accessory.

Flat panel speakers are constructed as a membrane diaphragm with is supported by a frame. One of the unique traits of this design is that it can be painted with any water based media to match the room décor, or used as a picture frame. Attach photographs, prints, posters, or decals to the face of the speaker with little affect on the sound quality. These speakers can display the logo of a band in much the same way as is commonly shown on drum kits. By using removable spray glue, a picture can be attached to the panel temporarily, for instance, a photograph of a bride and groom at a wedding reception.

Painting Instructions

Important: Use water-based paint, such as latex, vinyl, satin, or acrylic. Do not use Alkyd (oil-based) paint, enamel, lacquer paint, or a stain. Do not use a textured paint.

Raw panels require a primer coat of paint. (No primer is needed for black or white panels.)

On wooden structure material, use a standard MDF "wood primer sealer." Let it dry, and then apply a second coat of the color of paint you have selected.

The Soundboard is a paper-based material. Do not apply a primer to it. Do not sand it prior to painting!

When applying a final coat of paint to the panel, there are two very important considerations:

First, keep the foam suspension as free as possible from paint.

Second, take care not to over-spray the exciter drivers on the back side, as this will impede the performance of the panel. Use masking tape to cover the vents in the metal plate attached to the rear of the panel.

Attaching Images to the Panel

The membrane of an NlightN speaker is supported by a wooden frame. The speaker looks like a picture frame, and since it can be hung on a wall, you can use it as one.

Spray glue may be used to mount a poster, print, or photograph on the NlightN membrane. Two types of glue are available: permanent and removable. Some products can be permanent if the artwork is applied wet, or removable if applied after the adhesive dries. Do not use a hot glue gun!

Use masking tape to cover the wooden frame. First spray the panel and then the back of the artwork. Now you are ready to attach the art to the panel. With certain glues, you will be able to reposition the artwork for a few minutes before it dries.

Lightweight fabrics can also be attached to the panel with any of the spray glues listed below in the Links section.

The materials mounted on the panel cannot exceed 250 grams per meter inch (gsm). For guidance on this parameter, refer to Paper Weights and Conversion Tables.
